How we Work

Here at Architecture North, we use the RIBA Plan of Work which organises the process of briefing, designing, and constructing through to operating a building project. The RIBA Work Stages break down into eight stages and explain the specific stage outcomes, core tasks, and information exchanges required at each stage.

Disbursements

Architects' disbursements are extra costs incurred by architects on behalf of clients during a project. These expenses, beyond the professional fees, vary based on project needs. Clients typically reimburse these costs separately from the architect's fee for services.

RIBA Professional Service Contracts.

Professional Services and Building Contracts provide quality control over your project. Within our Project Initiation appointments, we will have discussed your specific Contract Type, you can learn more below about your specific contract by following this link.

How to Pay AN.

Here at Architecture North, we solely use Bank Transfer as our method to pay us. Follow the link below to find further details on how to pay AN.

Client Approvals.

Within all of our projects, we allow our clients to have control of their project, when you are satisfied with your drawing issue pack, you will be requested to sign off your drawings. We have a number of ways to sign off your drawings, but the most effective way is by following this link to digitally sign off your drawings.

Revision Requests.

When your drawings are issued to you, we will request you either approve your drawings for approval, or we will undertake Revision Requests. Revisions are defined as adjustments to your drawings, so say for example you would like to move a door, a window, or how your elevation will look, you will request revisions through our services, and we receive your written instruction and undertake your revisions. Our project timeframe does not include revision requests, as naturally, revisions differ from Client to Client, and Project to Project.

Book a Meeting.

We have a number of different meeting types, and rather than going back and forth with emails and confirmations with our team, you can schedule a meeting with us directly by following this link, where it’ll offer times that work with your availability.

Discharge of Planning Conditions.

When a Planning Permission is granted, there are often conditions attached to planning permissions that need further details to be submitted and approved by the Local Authority at certain stages of the development.

This process within the Planning process is called 'discharge of conditions.

Extension of Time.

Within our professional services, we undertake the best level of services to ensure that you get the best results for your project brief, developed in a professional manner, and submitted to the Local Authority.

Unfortunately, there is no written book of what Planning Case Officers expect for every single house, and they occasionally request extensions of time for your application, where we need to amend your drawings to suit your case officers’ requests.
